Richard Ellis
Richard Ellis is a co-founder of Amiri Capital.He has over 12 years' experience in strategy consulting, banking and business development.
Prior to establishing Amiri Capital, Richard worked for Lloyds Bank developing new financial service opportunities. Prior to that Richard worked in equity research at Morgan Stanley and as a financial services focused consultant at LEK Consulting.
He is a graduate of the University of Oxford and earned an MBA from INSEAD
Bindesh P. Shah
Bindesh P. Shah is a co-founder of Amiri Capital.Bindesh was the former head of Islamic finance at Lloyds TSB where he successfully launched the Scottish Widows Shariah compliant mutual fund. At Lloyds TSB he also led the development of a partnership with ICICI Bank, one of India's leading banks.
Bindesh began his career as a strategic management consultant at LEK consulting and worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.
He is an Economics graduate of the University of Cambridge and earned an MBA from Wharton.
Hamel Shah
Hamel Shah is a representative of Amiri Capital in Asia.He has over 12 years experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, entrepreneurial ventures and senior management.
Hamel has a degree in Economics from Cambridge University, and an MBA from INSEAD, with an exchange to Wharton Business School. His 8 year consulting career with Bain & Co included a wide range of financial services and private equity related projects.
He has also previously worked at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell and NatWest Markets.
David Vernon
David Vernon is Chief Operations Officer at Amiri Capital.He has over 9 years experience in investment banking, Hedge funds, Execution and management. David has a degree in Fine Art with Corporate Management and Business Management from Leeds University.
His 5 year career with De Putron Fund Management included two years as Head of Execution, managing a 24 hour trading desk, monitoring daily volumes amounting to around one billion dollars per day and five years as an Execution Analyst responsible for monitoring and maintaining a wide range of statistical arbitrage equity and FX based trading strategies.
He has also previously worked at Coutts Bank and Amerindo Investment Bank.
Professor Joseph Bannister
Professor Bannister is the Chairman of the Maltese Financial Services Authority and is an independent director of a number of non-Maltese investment funds (hedge funds) on behalf of international institutions. He is a professor of biological chemistry at the Cranfield Institute of Technology and a professor of biochemistry at the University of Malta.

- Senior Research Fellow, Oxford University
Iqbal Asaria
Mr Asaria is a leading figure in the Muslim community and an expert in Islamic finance.
He is a key member of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) holding various roles including:
- Special Advisor on Business & Economic Affairs to the Secretary General of the MCB [2005 - present]
- Representative on Working Party set up by Governor of Bank of England to look into issues relating to launching of Islamic Housing Finance and other products in the UK [2002-Present]
- Chairman, Business and Economics Committee
He is also a leading figure in Islamic finance: a regular speaker at conferences, seminars and training workshops and the author of several articles on Islamic finance. Advisory roles have included:
- Advisor on Islamic Home Finance and other Shariah compliant products for HSBC Amanah
- Advisor on Islamic Financial products to the Lloyds TSB Group
- Consultant to Scottish Widows Investment Partnership's (SWIP) Global Equity Shariah Fund
- Consultant to The Childrens' Mutual (TCM) on their Shariah Baby Bond – a Shariah compliant Child Trust Fund Product
Mr Asaria is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. He is a graduate of Victoria University, Manchester where he also completed his graduate degree. He was awarded the CBE in the 2005 Queen's Honours List for services to international development.
