His Excellency was a senior minister in the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, most recently holding the position of Cabinet Minister of State.

He has been a member of various inter-governmental bodies and held corporate roles before serving in government.

His Excellency is currently Chairman of Al Fanar Investment Co. WLL, Bahrain, and has held this position since January 2005.

Professor Joseph Bannister

Professor Bannister is the Chairman of the Maltese Financial Services Authority and is an independent director of a number of non-Maltese investment funds (hedge funds) on behalf of international institutions. He is a professor of biological chemistry at the Cranfield Institute of Technology and a professor of biochemistry at the University of Malta.
